      Safe overbore on the 1.6?

Got a line on the parts to rebuild the engine, and may have the wife persuaded. What is a safe overbore, 10, 20?

from my understanding, the block is the same as the 1.4l, 1.6l and 1.8l..

iirc.. (you should look it up)
      the 1.4 as standard..
      the 1.6 is a stroked 1.4
      the 1.8 is a bored 1.6

are you going with pistons? i thought most "metric" companies go for over bores in mm.. at least in sets i have bought, because i always have to convert them for the local machine shop.

My bad, it is the bearings that are available in 10 over, the pistons are available in standard, and 20 over. Looks like the only extras I would need, that I can think of, would be the head bolts, and a valve job,

that kit seem like overkill.. i would probably get a kit without the pistons/head gasket and then order some higher compression oversize pistons..

I would get something like 1-1.5 mm larger.. maybe even 2mm.. and then get a cometic head gasket, get my compression to 12.5:1 and then use midgrade /premium gas and chip the car..

well, so far, this is about the best deal I have found. Parts for these things, at any sort of a decent price has been eluding me. Regarding the high compression pistons... yeah, that is how I think too. She would not consistently run mid-grade, or premium. She would run 87, and then gripe if it did not run right. I figure if I do it this way, add a water pump, and I should be in good shape under the hood, for a while.

found another kit, minus the pistons. with the savings on the kit, plus the savings on the machine work, I will be able to have it balanced. I will be getting the head vatted, and a 3 angle valve job, and having the head resurfaced, and the block decked, which should give me a bit more compression. I am figuring that I will see more benefit from the balance and the compression increase, than I would from an overbore.

Does anyone have any onfo on the clearances between the valves and pistons... is resurfacing the head and decking the block a feasible option?
