      my dad once told me they used to have a pull start cod mod for the VW Beetle so it could be possible?

      vw's had crank starts. so did model T's.

      but an old vw engine might have been 1100 cc's. and low compression cause they would be 36 hp..

      yea compression is the other factor beside size

      I remember some big motorcycles I rode had "compression release" for kick starting...otherwise you could never kick it over..

      arent those little check valves at the top of the cylinderheads. you pushed them in and the pressure released?
