      pull cord start

i thinking today, since motorcycles have kick starts, and some have almost the same size engine as ours, could a functional pull cord start work and fit???

      Re: pull cord start

you could probably put a kick start on it, but i don't think you could pull the engine over with your arm fast enough to start it....

i could be wrong though, you might look like the Hulk or something.

the other thing is the clutch attached to the pull starter, when the engine "catches" lots of people in the old days hurt themselves.
but they didnt used to put actual clutches on the crank start rods so they would just wip around and hit you a few times....

it is, i thought this was just a "for fun" topic.. it would be easier to push start the car every time you needed to, than to try starting it like a lawn mower..

      Re: pull cord start

      alright heres some numbers....

      our engine: 1,598 cc
honda 450r kickstart engine: 450 cc
pull start lawn mower: 160 cc

Our engine is more than 3 times bigger than the kick start engine of 450cc. From personal experience, that can even be a bitch to kick start. Not only that but kick starting is easier than pull starting because your force is going with gravity when u kick start as opposed to against in pull start. Plus our engine is almost 10 times larger than a pull start motor of a lawn mower. In other words, you better have a few weight lifting buddies to help you every time you want to start it
