      Next Evolution

What is the next evolution in our transmission?, does anyone know or have ....any suggestions. When I say next evolution I mean the next step up....

d20 from the forenza...i read somewhere that it uses the same casing but stronger internals....so it should bolt up

Nope, the engine has the same revband for the most part. They might be slightly different, but it wouldn't be noticeable.

Swapping to the short ratio Lanos transmission would be a big difference, but not to the D20.

Also, you can buy different gearing and different final drive ratios for all the Daewoo transmission sets through Intimidator

      questions:
will the lanos tranny bolt up?
will the short ratio improve acceleration?

-- i have an auto so i dont think it pretains to me, unless the auto lanos/forenza are similar/better--

The Lanos is the same engine block... different head.

Yeah, the accel time would be better with the short ratio F16 transmission. The Lanos Sport came with this transmission (or youc an order the gears from Intimidator).

Overall acceleration time really depends. Theoretically, you'll get better acceleration out of a shorter ratio gear set. However you need to factor in the time required to shift, and weight out the time differences to see if it is truly beneficial.

It all really comes down to where you'll be driving it. short ratio in the city would be a huge pain in the butt. It also sucks for highway driving. You'll be screaming at 65mph and getting like 5mpg. Where it really shines is on the track.

You just don't want to get ahead of yourself and get a super close ratio transmission... end up putting down some real power afterwards. You might get to the point where you're hitting the top of 5th gear before you get half way down the quarter mile or the back stretch.

In my opinion though, a gear set alone is a waste of money. You're putting down real coinage either way and I really hope it's not for a daily driver, or even for a weekend warrior. That being said, if you're building a race car you really should go all out and give quaife or peloquin a call and have them build you a nice sequential dog box. Don't have to worry about shift times anymore... you just jam it into gear and go.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far the wall moves after you hit it.

ActuallY I am working to create great vehicle with great performance and the ability to be used as a daily driver(similar to say a Maserati) using the aveo as the starting platform.

The current gearing in the aveo should be perfect for a weekend warrior... not too short, not too long.
