Jeez, $260 for a crank pulley. Most expensive I've ever seen is maybe $180.

I should take my crank pulley into a local machine shop and see how much they'd charge to pump out 5-10 pulleys. Anyone interested?

I remember someone trying to make a lightweight crank pulley in the past, the result was too minimal on the 1.6L to make any noticable difference. I think it was like 2 whp on a dyno.

Invest that money into a lightweight flywheel instead, that's what I would do anyways.

I'd reduce the diameter and make it an underdrive pulley. Won't gain a ton more, but I'd guess you would see 2-4hp at the wheels. Thats not that bad at all for a simple bolt on item.

In any case, I'll look into getting a quote on 5-10 of them just for kicks.

Also, I assume they're different, but has anyone compared the etec and ecotec pulleys?

      Re: light weight crank pulley

Thats what I was talking about, a lightweight crank pulley, which was made smaller.

It didnt produce results positive enough to put into production, the cost vs hp gain is way too high imo.

Do you have any specifics about this pulley? Diameter or the % underdriven (most are ~15% from my experience)? Just curious as there is more to it than just making a pulley.
