Chinese New Year (Jan 31, 2014) Oil Change

First oil change on my newly acquired (Nov. 19) 2011 Aveo should be done on C.N.Y. for good luck and long and happy ownership, we hope!! The specs call for 4.75 qt, 4qt, 24 oz. No problem to measure the MOBIL ONE 5-20, but would another 8 oz to make an even 5qts cause problems associated with foaming? Thanks for any replies.

If you asking if another cup of oil would hurt, I wouldn't suggest it. If there is not a cavity space to fill, oil pressure will build up. It could get pushed through the PCV into the intake. I use the extra oil as a "rinse" during the next oil change. If you already did and are asking because your oil looks foamy you have a problem. If it looks like chocolate milk you may have a blown head gasket.

Thanx for your opinion, gothstone! I will measurre out 4.75 qts as per manual. I"ll save the leftover 8 oz for makeup, if needed between oilchange intervals of 4.5-5k miles.

No, b ut my wife is Chinese-Thai. She suggested that it would be an appropiate date since the 2011 is new to us.....kind of like a Dragon Dance brings good luck. We live in Kansas City, MO....midwest USA. Be well!
