      Changing Tranny Fluid

I know there is a similar thread like this in this forum, but mine is a bit different and I dont want to hyjack anyones thread.
Auto shop that I bought my new tires from did a check of fluids and said my tranny fliud was nice and brown. I bought the car about a year ago and it has 60,000 miles on it.
Besides taking to a shop for an expensive flush of the system, what is the best way I can change my fluid effeciently?
Is there any way I can flush all my fluid out?
There is a filter I should change out, correct?
Is the best way I can change my fliud is to change every month for a few months, then the majority of the fluid would be fresh?

Also, I notice some part stores say that you can only get the correct fluid from the dealer, but Autozone tells me that Dex/Merc will work fine.

myself, i dont think it needs to be changed right now at 60k, i think the service intervals on the tranny are 100k and over

On a side note, timing belt should be changed though, if you haven't done that already...

      I havent done it myself.
Can someone with mild mechanical skills such as mine be able to install a new belt?
And any specific tools needed to do this task?

OK, once again before my thread goes elsewhere, can anyone answer the above?
