Camshaft position sensor

Question, since I'm doing the timing belt, water pump, all the pullies and my car has 99,000 miles on it, would it be a good idea to go ahead and replace the camshaft position sensor even though mine is fine?? Is just easy to get to right now.. Thoughts.???

Mock, I would. then you have a 'good spare' if you ever need down the road, its your money and time, makes sense while you are in there IMO. I say this after doing a timing belt job, then going right back in a week later to change the CP sensor lol I think this happened to another member in the forums as well. This one had over 230K miles though, YMMV.

i can't say from personal experience, but i don't recall you needing to take the belt or pulleys off to do the sensor. Just the upper cover?

If you need to pull the pulleys, and it comforts you then i would go ahead and replace it, but make sure its not just a cheap piece. I do not believe there are any moving parts in the sensor, so it is no a wear item so to speak.

If you aren't getting a check engine light I wouldn't bother replacing it. If it does happen to fail you just need to take the top timing cover off and replace the sensor. There's no belts or pulleys that require removal as the above poster mentioned.
