2008 aveo slow gas filling and P0446

Had chk eng lite and read the code as P0446 also noticed that when I get gas I cannot pump the gas fast no matter how full the tank is. gas starts to splash up and cuts off the pump.. (never seen this on any car I have owned) I replaced the solenoid/valve at the canister under the passenger wheel well. no help. cleared code and takes about 3 minutes of driving and it returns. Please help me fix my wonderful little baby car

UPDATE... I disconnected the hose that goes from the top of the gas tank to the canister at the canister. now gas flows in freely when filling and no chk engine lite.. also drove for 150 miles yesterday with no codes.. confused.... Thanks in advance for any help/ideas
