      2005 torque converter

How much pressure should it take to remove my torque converter from the transmission?
And what type of fluid does it hold as mine seems to be leaking a bit, is this even normal for the torque converter to run fluid when it is turned on it's side while out of the tranny?

I am thinking a new torque converter is in order but I want to make sure before I throw the cash down for a new one. help appreciated.

it is filled with the tranny fluid, and any time it is out, the converter and tranny will leak some.

it doesnt take much pressure at all, in fact some will/can fall off on their own if you don't block them in the bellhousing

wait for a gm tech to answer because sometimes pulling them from the tranny means something "special" needs done to reassemble and have it function proper.

Thanks alot petrified.rabbit. I love this forum.
I will hold my horses until I get verification also though.
I found a copy of the manual but there are only a few vague references to the torque converter that I found in the transmission section.
      139. Install the torque converter to the transaxle.
      140. Measure the installation depth of the torque
      converter. Standard value: 11.1 mm
If the measured value is beyond the standard
value, readjust the torque converter within the
      specified value.
Is what my manual specifies but more info if needed would save me a load of trouble or lett me know if all I need to do is pop it on and go for it.

In my transmission rebuild class u gotta spin it tell shaft, the pump, and the seal inside the all lock together. sometimes only one or two clicks will be felt. usually this works if u can't touch the side of the torque convertor toward the inside then its all good and I ran dozens of tranny's on the dyno teste and all tested good a few were the aisins.
