      04-07 voltage question

What kind of voltage of voltage numbers are you all seeing in the Aveo. I am running about 14.5-14.6 at the battery and I seem to have a new friend the CEL and the hold light "flashing". I have upgraded the alt to a 200 amp H.O. alt from the stocker (85amp), I have upgraded the the wiring on the alt from 8ga to 1/0, and all grounds to the battery are now 1/0 ga. Additionally I have replaced the stock battery with a Batcap 2000. I have done the math and the volatage drop from alt can not be more then .1V which would mean that the alternator is putting out at least 14.6-14.7 V into the system.

So my question is: "Is the stock ECU set to read a value of 14.0V from the alternator and anything higher will set off the CEL and a flashing hold light." If you know the answer or know where I can find it let me know...
      Thanks in advance

you might need to check the voltage going through the rest of your car, not sure how the aveo system works, but in alot of cars anything about 16v can start to fry stuff.

might need to put an external voltage regulator between the oem harness and the battery supply to keep the original stuff on the car closer to 12.5 volts..

my gf has a radar detector thing that also tells ur cars voltage. dunno if its accurate or not but in her mazda it reads from 14.1-14.3 avg. in my aveo it read about 13.2-13.5 avg. it was always consistent but accuracy i dunno.

      A lil update...
The hold light went off but still have the CEL on and voltage is holding steady 14.5-14.6 at the battery.
      I will keep you posted.

An average charging system will be between 13.0V - 14.8V. 15V is where batteries start to go BOOM!

how long before it "adapted"? and did you have to disconnect the battery to clear the codes at all??
