      Clutch pedal screaming..

I've done some searching, but didn't find anything exactly like my issue.

My 06 svm has 115k on it. The clutch still feels ok. engauges and holds like it should.

The thing is, lately when I press the clutch pedal in, it emits a horrible screeetch. The sound is just like a loose/ bad serpentine belt. But it's comming from the tranny only when I depress the clutch.

I would think this is a bad throw out bearing....but could it be an easier fix like the slave cyl?

I don't want to rip into the clutch when I might have 20k miles left on it. But this bearing sounds like eventually somethings gonna fail... there must be metal to metal contact making this screetching sound..

      Any suggestions?

The slave cylinder wouldn't squeal. My money is on the bearing.

Thank you Daox. Sorry for the multiple thread postings about this.

I wouldn't have thought the slave could squeal, however, I read about it somewhere on the 'net - for whatever thats worth, lol.

-The pedal feel changes, yet the clutch works great.. that makes it seem like maybe it's the Slave.

I'm probably being extra hopeful like this, since it would be a much easier repair. I'm ready to tackle the clutch, but I want to get some good use of the clutch. at least 130k miles would be right to me. Just 15k miles of squeeking to go.

sounds like throwout bearing to me i would replace it as soon as possible because it it totally fails and melts you are gonna be hating life die the the damage it can do if it damages the input shaft . replace the whole clutch now as if you wait you could be stranded and have to replace it just take a long weekend and get a friend whith a floor jack and change the clutch meaning clutch plate presssuer plate and throwout bearing i wouldnt take a chance with that it is like seeing if you can go 100,000 on the timing belt ... just tempting fate.

Hey Jay, thanks for the advice... you are 100% spot on. I did change my clutch, and when I got to see the one that was on there, I was sure glad I did, I was miles away from the catastrophe you mentioned.. 2 pressure plate fingers were broken off
and the bearing had melted down to almost nothing left (also broken into 2 separate pieces).

I was just miles away from failure, read about my final install here..
