      An Aveo idea I had..

If only I could weld....I'm dreaming of a V6 powered RWD Aveo. LOL.

I'd go V8 But a Buick 3.8 is a cool little motor with plenty of power for its compact size.

One from a late model turbo regal would be nice. With some welding you could make a rear axle from an old 70's chevy monza work, using the torque arm system to keep the axle in place, the way they did in those cars. The floor will need a little cutting in the tunnel area for the transmission. The cutting and welding would be a massive task, Otherwise, looks like its totally possible.....

I've been messing around on daewootech.com checking to see if a 6speed F40 transmission will mount up to the 1.6L Ecotec aveo engine.

Did this with a 1969 Opel GT... na 3.8 with a Muncie and narrowed Dodge 8-3/4" posi rear end back in 1980. Sure was fast for the street, but re-instated smog laws made it autocross-only for it's final years of use.

Ah, I've heard the F28 is somewhat of a hard-shifting transmission.

back on topic. the rwd swap is just that, cut out the tunnel and move the heat box for the tranny, and change out the rear suspension.

one of my next projects is to build a chevette with a complete mazda speed miata drive train in it.

Then take the Mazda Miata and Put a Ford 5.0 in it.

They have a kit for that I think.
