2009 radio and fan out, wouldn't shift, now won't start

I did errands and the car worked fine. Remembered a stop I didn't do, when I went to start the car, it started, but the radio and heater fan didn't work, the lights did work, but I couldn't shift it. So I turned the car off and haven't been able to start it since. Now when I turn the key, nothing happens, no sound at all. But the lights inside and outside the car still work.

My friends' hand held (cheap-o) diagnostic unit read: "Tran P0700 07E8 tran control syste (mil. request)" Another friend who works at the trans shop said it could be a module. But he couldn't come look at it and I couldn't get it there.

Any ideas to check and get some more specific info?

Check all of the ground circuits, this is usually the source of issues on the earlier models. May also be a bad relay or fuse?

Heck I would check the battery connection too besides the fuses. But a volt meter on the battery it should read plus 12 VDC.
