I have a 2008 Chevy Aveo with an automatic transmission.. the light that shows which gear you are in is either not working or burnt out. Does anyone know if this is controlled with a bulb or fuse? I have the center counsel off and I don't see any place for a bulb. I have searched the fourm here and the web and no one has a real good answer for this question. Any information would be greatly appricate.
well in case anyone is interested the bulb is a 2721 and id directly under the N
the center counsel does not have to be removed.. carefully pop off the trim around the shifter.. then the center pops off and the bulb is right there.
My cover is obviously going to break when I pry around the edges, and there's even a crack that appeared on the left side. Can you offer any additional hints about doing this without doing a whole lot of damage?

I started off by removing the 2 screws up front one on each side and the one screw in the rear cup holder. I wasnt able to get the center counsel to clear the front cup holders.. so I then removed the trim piece that goes around the E brake and goes up in front of the shifter.. it just clips into the main center counsel in 6 spots.. 2 in the rear, 2 in the center, and 2 in the front.. after you get this piece off you are able to remove the plastic around the shifter.. there is 4 white clips that hold it in place.. I just pryed them up with a small screwdriver.. once that is off you will see the bulb it is under the N.. I believe it was a 1/4 turn and there is the bulb.. pull the bulb out and replace with a new bulb.

The question wasn't about changing the bulb, it was about accessing the bulb.
