      Unhappy Timing Belt issue

      Hello,

      this is my first post! so heres my issue got my aveo at 50k its now at 80k it says to replace the timing belt at 60k im 20k over the limit now im hearing ticking noises every few seconds then it stops and then starts again its like.....tick tick tick..............tick tick tick........its not loud but its there, is this unsafe to drive?

      I would definitely look at the timing belt asap. Its impossible to say if the ticking is related to it or not, but I'd definitely get that belt looked at right away. If the belt snaps you're looking at a pretty hefty repair bill.

      i agree with daox, it might be a ticking time bomb :P

      it might also just be lifter tick with low oil pressure (at times). oil changes frequently? right grade?

      i would definitely do the timing belt asap, before is $400 repair, less if you shop around or diy. Or its a boat anchor if it breaks, or closer to $1000-2000 to pay someone to do it.

      Oh yeah! Check that timing belt asap! Daox and petrified.rabbit and myself have answered tons of these similar type questions. Timing belt is not something that should be brushed aside until its convenient.
