      Low oil pressure light

So I got the low oil pressure light the other day, ordered a new pressure switch AC Delco 95961350. Definitely better than the worn out one I replaced, but the oil pressure light is solid at idle to about 1200 or so RPMs.

I saw another thread talking about replacing the switch with the AC Delco D1831A since it comes on at a lower pressure. Worth a shot or should I look into pressure testing the system to rule out the other problems?

and now it switched to the flickering oil light at a hot idle that goes away anytime the rpms go above ~1100-1200.

Assuming your crankcase is not low on oil, that is the classic sign of a defective oil light switch.

Just returned from dealer and he put in a 346275 OP/SWITCH AFMT. I assume the "AFMT" stands for aftermarket. Needless to say it started flickering about 5 miles after I left the dealership. Your thoughts?

Did they actually do an oil pressure test, or are they just $90/hour part-hangers?

I agree with avguy, have them test the Oil Pressure with an actual Gauge, and then compare the PSI that they get with the Specs in the Service Manual. something tells me that something is VERY WRONG with your engine if you went through Two Low Oil pressure Switches and your Oil Light continues to flicker.

They just replaced it per my instructions ($60) The next step I guess is to replace the Oil Pump. Another thread said that the oil pressure relief spring goes out (breaks into pieces). yahoo.....

Have the Dealer MAKE SURE that its the Oil Pump first, because the Ecotec Oil Pump for the 09+ cars is $500+, after Taxes. Just Throwing parts at it and seeing what sticks Gets EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE REALLY QUICK.

Well I guess they can't be criticisized for just doing what you requested, but I believe a real pro would have checked the pressure anyway, especially since it's so easy to do with the sensor removed.
AFA the guy who posted about the spring breaking, that was on an '06, and is likely to be a different part on your '09. Did someone other than you change the oil on this vehicle recently? (like just prior to the oil light first coming on)
