      2008 Aveo Headlights Out

      Hi Folks,

I honestly checked through the pages to find specifically this question but may have missed it. I have lost my headlights (both at the same time) high beams work but not the low beams.

What is the first fuse I should check? Not a super savvy car fixer guy but I'm sure I can handle a fuse

Is there a common one I should replace to test? I looked in the fuse box under the hood but there are a few that deal with headlights.....

      Any help is appreciated.

      Thx!

      Rob

The owners manual has the info you are looking for regarding the fuse block....for the Hatchback the low beam lights are LOW BEAM RT (Passenger side) / LOW BEAM LT (Driver Side). For the Sedan it is H/L LOW RH (Passenger side) / H/L LOW LH (Driver side)

      Hey Thanks Aveo5_boy,

I went through and looked at all the relevant fuses last night. I noticed that there were two relays (one for high beam and one for low beam) in the fuse block underneath the hood. I noticed that they were the same so i swapped them. When I turned the car back on it was the same thing. High beams work when activated but not the low beams.

I checked the DRL fuse and even put a good spare in its place. No change. Checked the right and left headlight fuses and look good. Could it be possible that both headlight bulbs went at the same time and need replacing? Hesitant to spend the money and chnage the bulbs if its not that. Has anyone else heard or seen this problem?

      Thx

Seems you've eliminated everything but the bulbs. It's possible one went out a bit sooner than the other and you just never noticed.

Replacing the bulbs is short money (I got both bulbs for $8 each at my local parts store) and easy to do yourself. Check elsewhere on this forum for the steps.

Double check the relay. You could've switched the wrong one or even put the same ones back in place.
I would check voltage at the bulbs with a multimeter too

I had this problem about 5 days ago. I ccheck every thing. I just turrned my highbeams on. I slamed the hood. And they came on. Worked for like 3 days. Then they blew. But it may help for now.
