'04 Replace hood release cable

Has anyone replaced the hood release cable? Just curious if there is anything tricky about it or if I have to remove a ton of things to get to it.

Well, I tackled this repair blind. It wasn't difficult but not knowing what steps to take from the start certainly slowed me down.
Here's the procedure I used.

remove the grille
unbolt the headlight housing (3 bolts). didn't remove, just slid out so I can get behind it
remove the plastic wheel well cover
remove dash cover around lever, held in by clips

There are two clips that hold the cable to the body. One in the hood area and the other behind the fender toward the firewall.
Once everything was removed, replacement was obvious and simple.

I also used this as an opportunity to clean out all the mud and leaves packed in between the plastic wheel well cover and fender. At the bottom near the door. I had this same problem on the other side. Having all that junk in there will certainly speed up the corrosion process.
