Anyone else's hood release stick open?

I've had the problem since I've gotten the car, but haven't taken the time to do anything about it yet. If I pop the hood, the latch sticks open. I've tried oil, grease, anti-seize, nothing seems to keep it moving freely. I'm thinking I'm going to have to take it apart, sand it down and take a file to it to add some clearance so it doens't hang up on itself.

the cable feels fine, i can actually move the lock back with my fingers but it takes force, the spring is not strong enuf to move it back alone.

but mine might just be full of crap too, fingers come out black with dirt when i touch it. a good clean and i think it will work as good as new

Yup, same problem here. It just seems to bind up once its corroded and the spring isn't strong enough to pull it back.
