Modern cars with knock sensors adjust ignition timing on the fly to accomodate whatever fuel grade you put in the tank.

It was 2007... does not have a KS, only a Octane Switch to change between 90 RON y 95 RON gasoline...

I just want to know if there is a way to tell to ECM what fuel are the engine using, modifying inyection map...
I must say sorry by my english, please remember that I'm in Argentina...
There is a way to advance timing, which I will not explain... I don't want to be responsible for breaking your engine.

This guys however explains it pretty good:

Thanks - learned something new today. I didn't think that would be available on a newer car, but it makes sense to have it if there is no knock sensor. (My 1998 car doesn't have a knock sensor either, so I could potentially benefit from something like that.)

With a little ingenuity, you could put a switch on that mod for regular/supreme modes.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Ok, an image can explain more than 1000 words.

That image had been taken from http://gm.ws123.net/EN/documents_200...tart_aveo.html

      Re: Octane selector / switch?

Ok, there is what you win:

It is a test in a Chevrolet Corsa Classic (formely an Opel Corsa C), with a 1.6 8v engine. As I said, it has an Octane Selector switch".

      Uploaded with ImageShack.us

      There was two test run:
1.- With a standart ECM (ECU):
Red line is with RON switch in B position, for 95 RON gasolines.
Blue line in with RON swithc in A position, for 90 RON gasolines.

Notice that with RON switch in B position test shows 101.92 CV max power, instead, RON switch in A position test shows 97.98 CV max power.

      Uploaded with ImageShack.us

2.- With a re mapped ECM (ECU)
In this case, RON switch in B position shows a 108.71 CV max power. With RON switch in A position shows 108.77 max power.

      Uploaded with ImageShack.us

So, the point is, in this case, if you have a standart ECM and a RON Selector Switch you can gain a few HP.
That's why I asking about a RON Switch in my Aveo.

This info was taken from: http://www.corsa-club.com.ar/foro/vi...o+test#p318760 user ivan87. Thanks Ivan.

      Switch RON-95 (Aveo 1.6, 16v, ECU MR-140)
But this is Ukrainian forum (russian language)
      http://aveo.com.ua/smf/index.php/top...html#msg336718

      Google-translate:
ECU MR 140. Chips in a regular posting there. But you can do. Remove ground terminals accumulator. Disconnect connector "K" on the computer. Remove the cover from the connector. Seek out the disconnector contact so that went into the shoe. We put in the slot number 5 and collect it back. Wire with the new terminals connected to the body. I myself made such an operation. Result consumption fell approx. 1-1.5L. (While not exactly understand the data from the CD). At idle is more stable operation of the engine without the chips were walking speed 680 - 790 rpm. Now 685-710 rpm. Looked at the scheme lachika this ECU there contact K5 tightly wound on the body, as we have in the air.
