      New to Forum

Hey folks. New to the forum and wanted to say hello. Came across this forum while seeking some information/tips about some upcoming work I'll be doing so I thought I'd join the community. My first Aveo was an '04 sedan but traded it in on a new '06 Aveo LT. I love this little 5-speed hatchback! Some big work coming up, like I mentioned. Timing belt, water pump, pulleys, etc... plus some suspension work. Just completed a timing belt/water pump repair on my gf's '98 lexus es300.. what a beast that job was! I'm actually looking forward to doing the change on my Aveo!! Have already some pretty good walk-throughs regarding these fixes on the forums.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to searching the forums and getting some feedback from you all. Thanks in advance for the help. I'll try to chime in myself when/where I can.

Here's a pic of the fun about to begin. To do: timing belt and all pulleys, drive belt and all pulleys, air filter, cabin air filter, oil, oil filter, plugs, plug wires, & front strut mounts.

Thanks Daox. Well I went to replace strut mounts today. When I had the struts out and disassembled, I could push the piston in with about 1lbs of pressure (both left and right struts) The one slowly came out, the other wouldn't even come back any. Needless to say, went out and got new struts. Sooooo, new struts plus new strut mounts are installed, and in place. woo hoo

She's been heavily used and abused (within reason, and in a good way). She's a 2006 with 80k miles. Back in '08 or '09 two friends and I drove from PA to WY, and back, and I had her up in the mountains of the Big Horn Nat'l forest. I had her places where I was expecting to see some Jeeps and 4x4's (another reason I love this car) So it wasn't too too surprising it needed the suspension work.

I am pushing it with the timing belt. Original is still on there and I'm at 80k miles. I keep seeing stories about them blowing pre-60k. But I think I also see people talking about gen1 vs. gen2 aveos and sometimes I see they are good up to 100k miles? Can anyone elaborate and set this straight for me??? Either way, I'm doing the timing belt this weekend just to be safe.
