      Doxey+snow = craploads of fun!

      We went to the snow.....

These chains sucked- broke in the first five minutes in a whiteout.

So we went without chains- and had fun sliding

Our buddy is lucky- no chains for a Subaru....

Dox made the picture perfect in my opinion

Had to get a shot of us.....

She handled really well in the snow without the chains- crappy stock tires held in the snow better than we expected. Only slid around when we had bad wind+ice, or when we had a little e-brake fun.

That's it for now folks. I will see about adding more later.

you dont need chains! chains do nothing but limit your fun when driving in snow!

yes, for the most part the chains work. until they snap that is...
then they are just a hassle that might pop a tire....

yeah, a good snow tire is generally a better idea. Though, when it comes to a layer of ice, studded tires are always the way to go. Chains are a good alternative if they don't allow you to run studded tires in your area... but like boxkiller said, they eat tires for breakfast.

I'd love to get studded tires just in case the snow gets really bad, but i cant really justify getting them and 2 extra rims seeing how i dont live in the snow. i just get to visit occasionally.
Though if we end up moving out there like we want to- i will definately get 2 extra rims and studded tires.

TrickyAveo- its cool rockin the steelies, but you notice how awfully small your wheels look with steelies more than with the stock hubs. I will be getting new wheels in a couple weeks, so i will post some pics.
By the way- I know i had read a thread containing opinions and feedback on rim size 15" vs 16", but i cant seem to find it. Anyone point me in the right direction?????

If you move to a snow area, you'll need 4 tires. 2 is really dangerous as when you find yourself braking a little harder than usual, the rear end will want to come sliding.

That being said, if you still only get two tires, they go on the rear.
