      Thoughts on the Mazda 2?

seen the commerical yesterday, starting at 14k, and with less power than the aveo (1/4 mile is .2 seconds slower) with mazda 3 why did they need the mazda 2 as well?

this thread is about the Mazda 2, not the 3. It's the Ford Fiesta's little sister. I actually have been keeping up on the Mazda 2's reviews and alot of people have said it's less value for money and a worse overall deal than it's sister car, the Ford Fiesta.

the mazda 3 is not that much more, thats what i was leading to, it just does not seem like a good value like you said, looks nice though

The small car market in the us is backwards from the rest of the world. People buy small cars elsewhere because they are the norm. And then move up from there. But in the us SUVs and mid size cars are the norm so people buying small cars are looking for efficiency as much as value. So we have to pay for that. Plus the additional in safety equipment, emissions certification, and such.

As well as the fact that a 12000 car versus a 14000 car the price difference is over 10%. Even though we would like to see $4-5000 between tiers of models. That's not what we get.

but if you read the question the OP posted. why did they make a mazda 2, when they have 3. because the 3 is like a cobalt. im well aware of what this thread is about.

Even MOTORWEEK has said the Fiesta's a better value. And they try to find a point in every car but the Mazda 2 has no point except to say Mazda offers a sub-compact hatch.

Re: Thoughts on the Mazda 2?

isnt the mazda 2 a car that was already available, and just being remarketed for the us?

only advantage i see, is there is a 2 door hatch. if that version comes to the us.. a 2 door mazda 3 would be better.
