Head dowel needed, dealer shows discontinued

Hey gang, in a bind - 04 1.6, timing belt failed due to bad idler bearing, 12 for 16 on bent valves....

When I pulled the head, one of the alignment dowels got destroyed- figured it would be a dealer item, since have bought them for other engines. Unfortunately, it shows as discontinued with no replacement. If I could get specs might be able to find a substitute, but haven't found anything yet...

GM part number is (was) 94850523.

Anyone out there have a torn down engine laying around that could spare one of these? I could probably get one from pick-n-pull, but a 3 hour drive plus time to disassemble seems crazy... I'd obviously be willing to pay for shipping and whatnot if anyone can help out - if anyone knows of a source for them anywhere?

      Thanks,
      Jim

How about Jasper? Maybe they would take pity and help you out, either with a pin or a source for one.

Pull the dowel out and get the diameter and approximate length. Dowel pins are like bolts, they're standard sizes. You just need to know what size you have.

Problem is it's not just a simple dowel - it's essentially a piece of tubing, as the head bolt passes through it - and since the one I do have is a bit chewed up, I'm concerned that there may be some discrepancy in the sizing....
Unfortunately, this is not a case of them all being a standard sizing - different manufacturers use different sizes and styles all the time...
