      well im not too sure on your car as its an older model but on mine its on the outside off the carpet (you can see it wen u open ur boot, it basically just gives access to behind the light) i then just pushed the cabling plug out (needed abit of force to do this) then popped the light off using a lil force. essentially there is only 2 screws holding it on but the wiring plug tens to become another plug on the outside edge of the light so you must push the wire plug thru

      Thanks for all the hints, finally removed successfully, note no need to push wiring harness thru the grommet; the chore was getting my fat fingers behind the unit enough to pull straight out, to over come the grip of 2 plastic pins.
      Now I need to find out why I'm getting water in the backup light area, Guess I'll need to silcone the joint all around.

      i removed my 09 hatch tails yesterday it was quite easy...
      remove the 2 bolts philips,
      on the other side there are 2 clips,,,
      stuck a screw driver in the middle of the gap between the taillight and quater panel, and ply, there are 2 studs,,,
      like the headlight,,, but becareful not to scrtch the body when prying...
