      Ultra Racing Chassis Braces / Sway Bars Question

      Hey guys, just had a look at the Ultra Racing products for our cars. I noticed they have two different Rear Anti Roll/Stabilizer Lower Bars. One is 16mm and one is 19mm. What does this mean?

      Heres the link:

      I = Pi/64 x D^4

      so.. 3.1414/64= .049

      .049 x 16mm^4 = 3211

      .049 x 19mm^4 = 6385

      not going to get into the values. But that means the 19mm bar is almost twice as stiff as the 16mm bar.

      @sittinclean the 16mm bar is safer for daily driving and is probably good enough. The 19mm bar will affect handling quite a bit, probably not a bad thing in the summer, but bad in the winter. The ass end of the car will want to come out in front of you.

      On this Aveo I own, I am having issues with the arse end swinging out on snow/ice right now with no rear bar...and everyone here has stated the Aveo needs a rear bar....this presents a short circuit in my thinking process....the solution I have found to fix the rear swing out is a set of P175/65 R 14 TigerPaw Ice and Snows on all 4 tire postions...STUDDED. You can run my Aveo on black ice at 70 MPH and stop on a dime. With the factory 185/55 R-15's the car is a death trap....on frost covered pavement approaching a 4 way intersection at under 15 MPH I ended up at the intersection backwards, letting up on the brake pedal did not correct the rear skid.

      IMO if your doing nothing to the front end a 16 would be a for sure....if your bracing the front you should step up to the 19 bar. I have not yet installed mine so I have no personal experience aside from what my car does on ice and snow in the OEM state....and it's terrible for rear swing out now with no bar. I of course will now have to test this out, see if the 19mm improves or makes worse the already present rear swing out...snow will be here shortly and I will wait to install the snow tires so I can try it. I don't have a 16mm bar though to compare it with.

      First thing is that the car has a short wheel base and will want to come around a lot if you don't have the proper tires. BUT if you have the proper tires, like the 175/65r14 winters, you will find the car understeers a lot. That is a safety feature of the car since most people don't react well to their car wanting to spin around.
