      Tire Size Help

I was looking at getting used rims that got 215/45/17 tires on 2 rims and 215/40/17 tires on the other 2. I'm at stock height but I want to drop 1.5" all around am I gonna have any issues? I'm sure this has been talked about before but I didn't want to look. Thanks.

      Re: Tire Size Help

the 215/45 in the back, will be pretty close to the axle. but will be fine to the wheel well. might use a small spacer if anything. i just put on a 16 x 7.5 in rim with a 30 mm offset with a, it sits close to the axle, with the 205/45r16 tire it seems tight on the backside, although it doesnt rub.. but you will be sitting only @ 5 mm closer to everything. so you will fit on the backside. there is lots of room on the outside in the back..

the front you might need to go to a narrower tire.. but you will probably be fine with that offset too.
it would probably rub on the turns though. but i cant say for sure. if anything rubs i would put the 215/40's on the back, and then buy 205/40's to replace the 215/45's and put the smaller tires on the front. then you will definitely be ok. and only need 2 tires.

A 215 tire is quite a bit larger than stock so make sure you recalibrate your computer for larger tires to keep your speedo and milage correct.

If I were to get new tired n not mess with spacers n just slap the rims on what r my best bet? And does it hurt not to run the TPS?

      Re: Tire Size Help

you would still be ok with the 215/40 in the back. but most people run 205/40's all around.

do you have ABS? if so, you want 205/40's all around.

tps is not needed, the light will come on, but i think you can pull a fuse (i need to do this to mine)

I run 205/40/R17 on my 09. No rubs, the TPS light will just stay on all the time if you dont have them installed with your new tires...Of course mine is on 9 months out of the year anyways in winter lol. I'm running cooper zeon zxt's until the end of summer then swapping on my Potenza GRID's.
