      SRT4 that won't fit...but I'm gonna make it fit!

Ok so I was out till 4 in the morning working on my car.... Sad thing is... I was putting on some
      Rims. I was doing a
Rim trade with a guy who wanted my 14s for 17 so I was like hey y not I wanted 17s so he has srt4 tsw discontinued rims.

So these rims had hub rings rusted to it on the back wheels so we ripped off the dust cover n that part that kept the hub ring to fit around we bent it hammered it completelyt mutilated it and finally got it to sit right but not quit.. We had to tighten the lugs so much to make that little space that kept the wheel wobbling to close we had one more space n then the lug to tha car stripped. Good thing my husband works at a tire shop we are going to get it rethreaded. In the mean time going to post pictures when I could.

Sooooo has anyone done this to the car. N is it even safe?!?

Done what? Strip lug nuts? Or install 17s? I'm sure many people have stripped lug nuts, I don't remember ever doing it though. As far as having 17s on your car - it's perfectly safe.

i think she's talking about hammering the hub ring in place

If you have to hammer it on it's the wrong size. Proper sized plastic hub rings are like $10.

Hub rings should be used on almost all front wheel drive cars. They make the center bore if the wheel match the diameter if the hub center. Most newer cars are hubcentric, and these two parts need to match. If you center you wheel with the lugnuts while you might not have an issue. It's not "appropriate"

hmm... I'll have to ask the tire shop where I got the tires. I'd imagine they'd know what I'm trying to say... or so you'd hope.

Basically if you undo the bolts and the wheel wobbles while against the hub, up and down or left and right, you don't have them. Or just take the wheel the rest of the way off and look. The size of the hole on the rim needs to be .01? Mm bigger than the part of the hub that sticks out in the center.

Now the op. Doesn't an srt4 have a 5x100 bolt pattern? Are you asking about redrilling the hubs and putting in that pattern? It's been done, probably not to an aveo. But you can keep one factory stud. Then remove the 3 bolt the wheel on as a template and drill the other 4 holes. And then press in the studs

Re: SRT4 that won't fit...but I'm gonna make it fit!

No the SRT 4 rims I have are the TSW that are discontinued n they dnt make them no more. N no they have 4x100s at least the ones I got that came off an srt4. Then onto a civic si then onto mines. Anywho the back tires has hubrings while the front ones didn't the fronts went on perfectly while the back ones had the hubrings n didn't fit over here the dust cover is right In the center where the prongs on.(part where the lugs go on I dnt kno what they are technically called) anywho so the hammered it bent the metal till it was bent in to b able to
Fit the tire with the hubring off. While trying to
Fit it on completely by tightening the lugs as much as possible
It stripped the prongs n had to get new lugs n rethread the prong which was no buggy n simple since my husband weka at discount tire . It's just I spent 6 hours tryingbto do fit the tires on n to all find out. We had to just force the hibring off by hammering it out from the inside out... N pop it came off easy...ugh then took 30 min just to put perfectly fitting rims on after 3 days of trying. so I have my 17s TSW ON n it looks good. Now for my next project painting them
Black I'll post pics as soon as I can...
