Hey, if your gonna do MK1's I can tell you the kit works awesome! I am still running your kit, rabbit.
If you are thinking of going to MK1's, watch how low you go in the front. I've had some rubbing on the passengers side wheel well, but am about to have the well reshaped.
Already there I just cut my **** out. Wish I could do some rear camber but I have no room, what size wheels and tires are you running
I'm running 195 50 15 -- minimal rubbing issues. Rears tuck with about a half inch to spare. I will get pics tomorrow when the light is good.
This is it currently. Been in mothballs for about 2 years.

Believe me it was a pain to get it dialed in. There is still some bounce but not as bad as it started out to be. With the short Isota short shifter shes a blast to drive. Now that she is gutted, it makes for a light and quick ride. I post some pics of the inside when I get some time today.
I have a slight bounce too but most is gone and I still have the oem shifter. I'll tall so i enjoy my long strokes lol. I'm not racing so it doesn't matter. I'll post a new ride quality video too
welcome back. 2 years in the moth balls? mines been under the knife about that long..
SLOWLY getting closer though:

Love the color contrast to the carbon wrap wrapping the fender soon but now I want the roof on my notchAttachment 10252 can't upload pics from the tablet. Any suggestions on my front bumper. It's primer gray and don't feel like color matching it???
Oh yea with the rear 326 power 8k springs are buttery. No more spring clap or rough riding. Love the quality of them.Attachment 10253
Went another 5 threads this morning but I now notice the dust boot it's fully compressed inside the spring. Should I cut them or just lose them a lot of people don't use them at all but yet I still have no spring clap. I'm 20 threads from the top to the top of my first collar. If I can get some mk1 rears I'll move the 326 power springs up front.
Attachment 10256 this is how it sits now.
Im not running my dust boots, but I have about 1/4 of the original bump stop..
I cut my boot in half and I run no bumpstop
Got the mounts to fit together and this is probably the lowest in the rear you can go with mk2 mk3Attachment 10257
Rabbit do you still make the sway bar link kit? If we use the mk1 coilovers, lmk thanks
Attachment 10261 wow I'm satisfied with the way it sits right now had to do some extra cuttin in the fender wells but fully fitted front and rear and satisfied with the ride smooth af but does get a lil iffy on bad roads again... Great write up rabbit
Thanks, wish the kits weren't so rice I would put on on but besides that I just need wider wheels. May do a legit brush lip and skirts lol street sweeper
Tbh I drive hard but it still handle wonderfully. The number of threads are different but I've measured everything out to the T. I will let you know the difference from each side Whe to go back to work. When I first did the install getting the sway bar out without dropping the subframe was a PIMA so I just cut it out and after I drove I honestly forgot About it. It really plants the car to the road. I just hate roads with patches or sectioned layed highway. I don't drive far and most roads are new so it's a buttery soft ride. Flex pipe rubs alignment rack lifts and smacks speed bumps if I go over dead straight. I enjoy breaking necks ever day driving it
Melveo, where did you get your springs? I finally installed my coilovers, but the ride is rough. Also how thick is the spacer your using? Thanks.
I bought rsk coilovers and basically street line for mk2. Yes the ride will be rough there's no weight on the rear end so it bounces a lot. I would take the bump stop out anywhere near maxed out. I swapped the rear with stance nation 326 springs at 8k so it's more comfortable but can still get out of hand, check on trans mount too,it could be destoryed by the bouncing. Just happened to me. Design quality -poor. Any pics of your car after leveling it.
Thank you for the info. I have been searching for softer springs, but did not really know where to look. I still got to do some adjustments then I'll post some pics. Thanks again.
Attachment 10466Finally got the height adjusted. I really wanted to drop the rear. I might be able to lower it just a little bit more with a couple more tweaks. Overall satisfied with the result.
Attachment 10467I made the mistake of pulling the inner cv joint out while installing. after getting everything set, I put it in gear and no go. I got the bearings back in but once I tried for a test drive the cv joint disassembled again. Any suggestions, much appreciated.
Attachment 10468can't wait to get the 360 power springs.
Krazy you should tutti find the mk1 coilovers in the rear so it won't be as stiff. I could only max out on mk2 with them. How much threads do you have in the rear left
I got alot of thread left, I decided to chop down the springs 2.5" and grounded them flat. It worked out really good. I gotta take the bump stop out and cut the dust boot on the rear. Then shorten that long spacer that goes between the top mount and top of the spring. By then I will be maxed out. I tried looking for mk1 rears but I'll have to take another look for them.
you could have bought mk1 for the whole way around. But the car looks good otherwise.. why flat black?
Yea I shaved part of the top hat to let the oe bolts sit flush. Looking for mk1 rear to so I can go 326 up front maxed and smoother rear ride
Thanks Rabbit, I actually rattle canned it satin black. It look good when I first sprayed. Now I'm saving for an actual paint job. Going satin black again
I've done two flat black cars. I highly recommend SEM products, hot rod black.
Here is one I painted:

I finally drove to work, the ride was not as bad as I thought it would be. Before I swapped to the coilovers I was on chopped springs with stock suspension. The aveo was slammed especially when I was on 15's and the ride was really rough. I can't wait to get the 326 springs all round and get that smoother ride.
I have been painting for @ 16-17 years?
aww man do I ever love flat black and polished/burnished chrome!.. boy that beetle pic ^ makes me seriously consider this.. still loving the coil-overs on the front btw they have survived 'a lot' of punishment, and even though they are lowish (not as low as most of the pics i see), they actually do better on logging roads than the stock raised suspension imho, simply because they are soo stiff they handle small potholes/bumps way better than I thought. I just did about 90 miles on a pretty technical logging road that didn't have any highside spots with my setup.
Some love from Quebec city,Canada !

Melveo, how are the 326 springs holding up? I'm finally getting ready to order mine all around. these springs are a little pricey, based on stance nation's site for 2 sets I figured I had enough $$ to buy them. Then I saw the shipping fee. I first thought the springs were coming from Cali, instead japan.
