Sealed or Ported Sub Enclosure

Hi, me again!

I have decided to stick with the Alpine hu power output with my Infinity reference series speakers in my 2008 Aveo5 hatchback.

I just cant afford what I really intended to get, an Alpine PDX 5 amp, with sub and wiring, etc. I found that the cheapest I could purchase what I want is ~$720.00. I just don't have this to spend.

So, on to an alternative. I really need some bass in my car to fill things out.

I have decided on an RF Mono 500W amp and a 12" RF Sub/Enclosure. Now comes my question.

In the 12" single size, there is both ported and sealed. I am having trouble deciding. I wish I could listen to them both before I buy. The manufacturer specs are almost identical, sealed bein 30Hz and ported being 32Hz. From what I've read, the sealed enclosure will yield tighter more accurate bass, while the ported will be boomier and louder.

Now you're saying: It depends on the kind of music you listen to. I was ready for that...

I listen to pretty much anything, except most country and classical. I listen to some rap, hip-hop, pop, rock, classic rock and metal.

Can you guys help me here making a decision? Please explain to me your listening experiences.

if you want sound quality go with the non ported box..
if you want it to be loud go ported...

personally i run ported boxes i think they sound great and are louder..
