      led interior lights

Okay some I'm planning on running some leds around the headliner to give it more light inside the dome light is not enough. Plan is to have the go on when the dome light is on. Now the question is how do I go about safely doing so.

leds dont really add "heat" to a circuit, so you ca just run wires above your headliner and wire the Leds in series or parallel off the wires the feed the stock dome light.

Are you planning to run your own "raw" LEDs like from Radio Shack? Or you planning to buy something premade that can handel 12 volts?

If you are doing your own LED install Use this calculator:
      http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz

Here is a source for superbright LED
      http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... cts_id=531

This is a good project. Personally I could use a bit brighter light in the car.

Do you have pics? Still new to the group so if there somewhere else please let me know the thread. Otherwise I would like to see what was done.

      Re: led interior lights

i dont have pics of the install all i have is pics of the final product but to make it run off the switch it was pretty simple and so far i haven't had any issues take off the lense of the dome light by using something very thin and simply prying it out and down and from thereand remove the bulb, then there is a screw that holds the whole fixture in place take out that screw and finagle that fixture out at this point i would recommend a positive and negetive tester to figure out what side is positive and negetive and from there i connected a + and - lead to the corresponding sides and hooked my wires into that...

@tidus10, so you just replaced the bulb with an LED bulb for the dome light? Or did you replace the entire dome? Do you do it for athestics? Like just a different color or to get more light?
