how to copy a key, topic about the key

i have a 09, it came with only 1 master key.
now i need to make a spare key in case **** happens
i went to the lock smiths in my local area, they all cant make a key for me, even i just want a key WITHOUT immobilizer. they cant copy, tell me to go to the stealership.
ok so i go to the dealer, try to buy a blank,
they have :
1, key for a 08 w/o imobilzer
2, key for 09 with keyless entry integrated on the key
3, key for 09 w/o keyless entry integrated.

and once i order no refund,

i just want a key that can open the door but not starting the car.
what part number shall i get.

and they cannot gurantee it will work because it's not specific for my 09

how many set of keys does it come with the car brand new

and one more question is, if i lost the master key,

is it any difference between:

1, have a master key, want to make a copy (with imoblizer)
2, lost all key, just bring the VIN # to the dealer to make a key , with immobilaer
3, have a non-immobilizered door key, need to make another OEM master key that has immo .

if i am in situation #2, dealer will going to butcher me and try to tell me its gonna cost an arm and a leg.

it should have come with 2, 3 if your dealer made a door key. My wife already lost one of mine, the second day i had the car, i just have one.

The vin # to the dealer will be expensive, i think i have heard $100 + ?

I do not believe the 08 and 09 will be 100% interchangeable (would need side my side) I think if you order the key blank with the vin it would be the right stamping for a door key. Cutting it etc would be able to be done buy anyone who can cut both sides of a key (locksmiths at hardwares stores might not)..

I would order a ebay $7 shipped key and risk loosing $7, it would be more for you though maybe.

the chipped key immo thing is still under debate, its not a programmed chip so much as a magnet or something that reacts, so its possible even the $7 will work.

ok, here is my key, anyone know what is the part number to :
1, 09 w/o mobilizer
2, 09 WITH mobilizer.

it has the letters "IM" on the key

my key does not have any letters on it, but i would "think" the IM stamp means it is immobilizer equipped?

from what i can see, the general shape of the blank is the same as mine. If you google search for aveo 2009 key, and go to shopping, i found dozens of keys @ $10. It would be at most a door key, if you buy 2, you could affix your immobilizer key to the inside of the steering column and then use the the 2 new keys for everything.

As long as you don't have leather and a sunroof in your car, you do not have an immobilizer.

I have just a plain key that a locksmith cut me and my car starts just fine. I have an 09 Aveo5 LT.

i went to a place the guy put it on some sort of senser, and tell me that it has immob ?
