      HOT Aveo

My mother-in-law as a 2004 Aveo with 124000ml she never hadthe timing belt replaced so it went, taking the head with it. New timing beltnew head runs fine till her thermostat housing went. She got it HOT. There are signs of melting were theintake mounts to the head. I put a new head gasket kit on it, but it just won’tstart sounds like it wants to but won’t come off the starter.

If it got that hot there could have been damage done to any of the plastic bits around the engine.

I'd start by making sure it has spark, and then go from there.

Have spark on all 4 plugs and fuel. The timing belt is set corretly. I dont have any way to check compression so it could have a crack or cooked ring. It all looked OK when I had the head off.

Even if you got a crack or something it should still fire.

The cam angle sensor is between the two cam gears, or the crank angle sensor. I wonder if either got cooked and are messing up ignition timing. Sadly you can't even get it started to get any codes.
