Deciding on my new exhaust setup????

      Hi everyone!

I just ordered the Flowmaster 942040 muffler 2" center in/out...but now have second thoughts after talking to the muffler shop that I go to, cause they said it's gonna be a tight squeeze. I suggested turning it vertical as Northguest47 has his...the guy said it might work.

But now I found a muffler that I like and may get this one instead....Manzo USA Universal Type Muffler - Turndown / Dropdown Style Tip - 2" Inlet
The only thing I wonder is how would I secure the muffler in the very back?

      Any suggestions?

      Weld on hangers?

I skipped the muffler altogether. Still sounds ok with just the glass pack.

pretty much my whole exhaust, 2" mandrel bent with only long glass pack, eliminated the 2nd cat.

That looks like a nice setup! I'm leaning towards now just the glasspack in place of the rear muffler, and leaving everything closer to the engine in place.

I went ahead and got this --->> Name: mf-rs341-a.jpg

      It's 2.5" inlet, 17.5" long, and 4" outlet, with a resonator....for $28.99 on ebay.

I was thinking I might cut a bigger opening on my rear bumper to accommodate the 4" outlet of this muffler shown above.

Has anyone done this? I was thinking of using a 4" or 5" hole saw, and only cut through the plastic, and not so far up on the bumper to expose any of the bumper brackets or the structure of the uni-body frame.

Part of the reason I want to cut part of the bumper is so the muffler won't hang so low and drag when entering my driveway.

      Suggestions?

Just got the "Can Style" muffler installed this morning! It sounds deep and not raspy at all. I took the silencer out to see the sound difference, and it's quite noticeable, so for now I'll keep the silencer in place.

The first picture is of my stock muffler before...I'll get a video of the sound later today.

Here is the video ( link to YouTube) of the new exhaust without the resonator...nice and deep throaty sound...I did put the resonator back in, since I leave for work at 6:30am every Sunday.

Looks nice, Rwags! - you got it tucked up as much as possible.. missed your previous posts until today. Ya, that center in/out muffler wouldn't allow to mount it vertically, you would need the offset/offset. I grinded the plastic bumper with a pneumatic die grinder - it takes some practise, those things want 'to run away' on plastic.

Yep Northguest47, It's as snug up against the bumper as I can get it. I haven't yet scraped it on any curbs or speed bumps yet. I ended up not grinding any part of the bumper down at all.

I simply removed my muffle entirely and went with a center exit dual tip (tips from a Mini Cooper S). Sound is boring after a few years now, but sometimes its fun to rev around town and in the bigger cities. I think you should remove the silencer for maximum fart can. Cheers
