Aveo 1.6 with Sonic 1.8 Head?

If you were to swap either the 1.4 turbo, or the 1.8, would you need to swap the transmission too? Seems like my parents' Sonic has more gears than my Aveo.

you would be correct: the Sonic has the 6T30 6 Speed Automatic, while your Typical 2007-2011 Aveo has the Aisin 81-40LE 4 Speed Automatic.

As far as motors goes I'm no where near as knowledgeable as others in the post however I am researching a few yards around my area to find the 1.8 cruze/sonic motor for my aveo. That being said is the swap different between 1st and 2nd gen aveos or should it be the same just about

you do not need to swap transmissions, but it would make a better swap.

red. you need to take the harness further into the current car. to a point where they are similar. might be the fuse block. might need to use a different fuse block and wire in the rest of the car.
