3k idle at startup???

Hello,

When I start the Aveo, I have a very high idle... over 3000rpm for about 5-10 sec and then it comes down to normal. What do you think would cause this?

My aveo does this is well, i think its a normal thing, my mothers pontiac Vibe revs high when starting then comes down.

cold start valve or high idle sounds stuck open/on. that 3000 rpm would probably be a "safe" 1000 rpm in 20 degree weather.

This has just started happening to me as well, but I think it is due to the replacement hose I used that typically has a 90 degree bend coming out of the MAP and into another line heading to the throttle body. My original tube had a gash in it, so the car was idling rough at start and popping codes. I put a replacement hose on it, but it has not built in 90 degree elbow, thus it is bending on its own, and maybe there is a constriction that is causing the high revving at startup? I'm looking for a replacement hose with a 90 as I type.

Update, it is not the new map hose. I took the map screw out and straightened out the hose, and still had the same high rev. Just over 2000 rpm. Comes down in a few seconds and runs fine. No codes.
