Would you buy an Aveo or a Wave again?

I am about to buy a 2009 Wave 1.6L manual tranny.
The person that had did not seem to have maintained very well, don't think timing belt was changed.
Car pulls to the left at lo speeds and there is a shake in the steering wheel at low speeds.
I did some reading about changing timing belt which is supposed to be easy on cars in general but it is a pain in the back on this one: engine mounts, support engine LOL.
      Question:
Would you guys buy another Aveo/Wave ?
Is it a pain in the back, expensive to maintain and "keeps breaking" kind of experience??

Making my mechanic rich and buying parts after parts is not what I am looking for...

I would. All of the complaints most people have about the aveo are generalized to most manufacturers.
When people "think" of the aveo, they picture a gm, and older cars that you could fix yourself.
That is not the case with any car anymore (generally speaking).

I have fixed hondas, vws, fords, etc that have to have engine mounts removed for the timing belt.
I recently had to pull the entire front end off a honda odyssey to fix an ac compressor.
Cars these days just cram everything they can where they can.

The aveo is affordably built, but the parts are also cheap. So if you take the time to maintain the car, it will last.
The 2009 has the same engine design as the newer sonic and cruze. It has a 100k mile belt.

For what the car costs, it is actually a decent little car.

i agree these cars have parts available for cheap. since its only a 4 cylinder, the engine's small and everythings easy to maintain.
timing belt was hard for me at first, but only because i didn't have the right tools. got me an impact gun and a compressor along with a fancy water pump wrench all for waaay less than any shop would charge.
did it myself and can probably do it again in one afternoon.

suspension and brakes are easy to do. serpentine belt & alternator weren't that bad. EGR valve is easy to remove and clean.
dont have to jack it up to do an oil change. AND i'm pretty sure if i ever do a head gasket job it'll probably be a fun experience.

aveos are pretty much a perfect DIY kinda car. I just wish it packed just a bit more HP.

I agree with all the above. However as an older person 65+, I found I had issues with vision, hence only nine thousand kilometres in 7 years! I should have been more observant on the initial test drive. This applies to most cars built today, not just GM products. My ideal car was a '79 Citroen 2CV

Yes. Aveo is a solid and fun car. Mine doesn't give me headaches so far.
