What kind of price are you looking at with those "heavily discounted" cars? And also, say hello to Wolf when you're up in Alaska...

      It's a copy? I thought GM-Daewoo-Vauxhall-Holden were one company?
I always consider it a copy when it's not made at the same location or by the same people.

2009 Aveo, $9,000. A/C, 15 inch tires, Manual transmission, "premium" stereo, power door and windows, wing in back. The car has 100 miles. I thought it was cool that it came with onstar.. that will be a big help when I'm traveling on roads where there is no help nearby.

As long as you sign up for premium onstar service for the month/months you're doing your big road trip so you can contact them when you break down... or call to order pizza.

And $9000 is not a bad price at all for a brand new car like that...

It's heavily discounted (as it should be) because it has already depreciated in terms of resale value; meaning you won't get too much for it when you sell it - but who knows? If gas eventually hits 5, 6, 7, dollars a gallon, even used Aveos might have 'value added' to their resale appeal. But it's hard to go wrong at that price, considering the 3 year full coverage warranty will be in effect from the date you buy it.

Offer the dealer $8,200. Make him squirm... After all, for Chevy it's a tough sell, and ultimately they gotta unload 'em.

      Road trips are your hobby?

Based on the millage on the Hyundai, you won't have to stress the re-sale. Cars are worth sh.. at that distance.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal, but I would try to get another $1000 off the price, just for the h... of it.

Next year, I plan on doing a road trip from Key West Florida to Inuvik, NT, Canada and Alaska (11,500 miles). This has been my dream for a while.

Another question: Are both the E-Tec and Ecotec a Daewoo-designed engine? What are the main differences besides HP? What are these premature timing belt issues I'm hearing about? Where are the 2009/2010 Aveos made in?

      Thank you in advance.

Here's a link via mapquest of the road trip I plan on driving:
