how many cars today are sold without A/C?

i was seriously surprised when i first went to look at Aveos on the dealer lot and saw that the SV models came without A/C. And it got me to thinking: how many other cars can you find brand new today without the option of air conditioning? maybe the hyundai accent?

Ironically, I'm in Florida, but I had the A/C dealer installed after buying it because they gave me a deal that made it less expensive to add it on than to buy an LS model. Only problem with that was, they did a crappy job, and when the magnetic clutch started squeaking, I made them replace it under warranty.

Why they had a model without A/C on a lot in Florida of all places, is a mystery...

they do that so they can say it costs less then the competitors car, but what they dont tell u is that there are no features in the car unless u want to pay for them.

i didnt really want any extras anyway, I'm a utilitarian kind of person so i like manual everything. that way there aren't as many things that can go wrong or break.

I personally like the fact that I can buy it with NOTHING. We were looking at a "base" yaris at a toyota dealership before we bought our '07 aveo... They say MSRP 11,999 or whatever... the damn thing had floor mats, an armrest (that just got in the way of the shifter), cd mp3, and an aux jack... somehow that all added up to an extra $2k... "Well, can you take the floormats and armrest out?" "NOPE!"

Screw that ****, I don't need an armrest, I don't need an aux jack, I'll add in my own headunit later... A/C is negotiable.

I may be crazy enough to buy a car without A/C, but to actually go to the trouble of UNINSTALLING the A/C system doesn't make any sense at all, dude. Were you trying to unload every ounce of unnessessary weight to maximize mileage or something??
