Contest (ended May 1/10): win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGauge
To celebrate AveoClub's "grand re-opening", and reward new and existing members for being patient while we were offline for the big clean-up, we're going to give some stuff away...
Prizes: (updated prize details, Mar. 23)
Prize consists of either a ScanGauge II automotive computer from AveoClub.net, or $150.00 worth of aftermarket Aveo parts in the form of a credit from one of the following vendors:
- AveoClub.net - A ScanGauge II 3-in-1 automotive computer ($169.95 retail price from the manufacturer)[/*:m:336v0v5w]
- Andy's Auto Sport - body kits, tail lights, projector head lights, intake, lowering springs, and more[/*:m:336v0v5w]
- C3 Customs - car audio[/*:m:336v0v5w]
- Petrified Rabbit - short shifter, rear sway bar[/*:m:336v0v5w]
- Throwdown Performance - chassis bracing & suspension components[/*:m:336v0v5w]
- Tire Rack - wheels, tires, suspension components, brake components, and more[/*:m:336v0v5w]
To recap: winner's choice of either a ScanGauge II, or a $150.00 gift certificate / credit to one of the above vendors.
Rules:
We're keeping it simple: all posts made in the forum during the contest period -- March 15th through April 30th (midnight, E.S.T.) -- are eligible to win, via a random draw. That means the more you post in the forum, the better your odds of winning. (And the odds are pretty darn good - do the math!)
If the winner chooses the ScanGauge II from AveoClub.net, shipping is included within North America. Outside of North America, winner pays shipping. If the winner chooses aftermarket parts credit/gift certificate, he/she is responsible for arranging shipping details with the vendor.
Winner will be announced on May 1.

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
I will gladly partake in this here contest. I could use a scangauge.
-
Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Sounds awesome.....a scangauge would be cool!
-
Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Scangauge would be cool! not sure that it would help with MPG as much as some report. I think maybe if you drive really hard without thinking about maybe the gauge would be a helpful reminder, otherwise it's just cool information to have and to track.
-
Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Don't forget: the ScanGauge is much more than just an MPG gauge.
You can use it to monitor up to 14 different OBD-II parameters, plus read & reset the dreaded "check engine" light. (I've done that for a few of my family's cars.)
You're right about tracking being the key thing for fuel economy though: Some people call these things "game gauges" because they let you turn every commute into a quest for "high score".

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
I would be interested in know what aftermarket parts you have for the aveo.

We are working with a couple of distributors at the moment. We'll likely supply the winner a credit with the vendor of their choice instead of picking out specific parts. If you have any suggestions, we're listening.

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
well i have been making my own stuff, but would be interested in anything that comes along to make my life easier.
but would love to find a performance tuning chip, or flash for the car, like APR, C2, etc.. If you have been talking with anyone along those lines. even if it is only available as a full turbo kit or something. I want a retuned ecu keeping the emissions etc, not piggyback or standalone.
A 4 point upper tower brace, A arm/subframe connectors (not just sub framebut to the Aarm bolts).
I am sure i will think of more.

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Thx for removing the spammers and cool :D that would be awesome for my 04 aveo.

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
We decided on the end date: the last Friday of April (the 30th).
I updated the first post with these details:
-- The winner will be drawn from all posts in the forum from March 15th to April 30th. Meaning: more active members will have better odds.
-- If the winner chooses the $150 Aveo parts prize, they'll receive a credit to the vendor of their choice (from our list of vendors).
We've been in touch with a handful so far, and have had a positive response from a couple - still waiting to hear back from the others.
More details about vendors to come in the next week or so.

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau

Read my post in the FE section about Chevy's lousy programming of the TCM. If you want better performance from your car, you need to write to Chevy and kick their ass (complain) about how they programmed a reasonably good 4 speed transmission to perform poorly by having the shift points all wrong.
-
Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Cool and yes the shifting is very lousy...
unless i step on the gas pedal i wont reach 3k rpm witout it shifting to 2nd gear,
then 2 seconds later it shifts into 3rd
-
Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Sounds like you guys are unhappy about opposing "problems" that could be fixed by either (a) an "econ/normal/sport" button, or (b) adaptive shift logic.
-
Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
i think shifting should be driver controlled..
-
Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
I agree Rabbit (I know Darin does too). However, the majority of our lazy American culture seems to think that shifting is too much work for them... bleh.

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Over the past few days we have been working to gather up a few vendors for this giveaway. Here is a list of who we are currently working with and what they offer.
Andy's Auto Sport - body kits, tail lights, projector head lights, intake, lowering springs, and more
AveoClub - Scangauge II
C3 Customs - car audio
Petrified Rabbit - short shifter, rear sway bar
Throwdown Performance - chassis bracing & suspension components
Tire Rack - wheels, tires, suspension components, brake components, and more
We have tried to cover the bases and are still looking for more vendors. So, if you have suggestions we'd be happy to listen.

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Thanks for the update Tim. I've added the list to Post 1.
And no, Rabbit, if you win you don't get to choose $150 worth of parts from yourself. :)

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Nice contest idea! My Aveo's still a plain Jane, it could use a little spicing up =3 Though I'd have to get help installing things, I'm not too good with that lol!

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
I have no idea why I'm here. But I do own an '04 Aveo. Which I don't consider a source of pride, sorry. That probably disqualifies me from the contest and from being a member on this forum.

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
Glad to hear this forum is going to be run a little better.
Hopefully as well as 3ZC.com (my other vehicles forum)
I will be posting a complete write-up for removing the cylinder head soon.
I am currently removing the head of my 2004 Aveo for some serious work.
Good luck to all contestants. Happy driving.

Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
:P I'll be in this even though I got so absolutely zipped with the Holden (GM) dealership and the missbegotten Korean rubbish engine programing in my TK09 that I modded it from one of these

TO
one of these.

It wasn't easy
There are rumors of a hot newbie in the future I may be back then, but it'll be as hot as Canada if the go-damn Koreans program it so maybe not.

@Daox: I agree Rabbit (I know Darin does too). However, the majority of our lazy American culture seems to think that shifting is too much work for them... bleh.
Daox, I would absolutely agree with you if I wasn't driving 2-3 hrs daily in 0-5 Kmph traffic! My automatic Aveo is a real blessing. :cat:
FYI, I'm in Dubai, UAE, so I don't know how eligible I am for thsi contest, but anyhoo...
-
Re: Contest: win $150 in Aveo aftermarket parts or a ScanGau
I am also glad that this forum is back, because the more forums we have, the more is a chance to find some suspension parts for our rides :)
