      Code P0441

So my check engine light comes on and I get a code P0441 with my scanner. So I replaced the purge valve on the intake manifold, the purge solenoid behind the passenger rear tire. Checked all hose routing the best I could without using some type of smoke or dye. My gas cap is only a couple years old and I can't get rid of the code. There is a hose that comes off the charcoal canister and goes up through the body trunk area. Should this be connected to something ?

      Thanks in advance

I recently had a different evap code (large leak) and that turned out to be a bad vent solenoid. Very easy to replace that one, and I actually pulled my replacement from a yard Aveo for $2. The doc says the vent valve could be a player in the P0441 code as well. The hose you described should be attached to the vent valve, and it's supposed to be routed the way you described, into the trunk body.

Vent solenoid ?....Hmmm not aware of it. Where is this located ? In the spare tire well ? Thanks for your feedback

Sorry - I didn't read your post carefully enough while trying to multi-task, and didn't notice that you already replaced the part I mentioned above (It's called vent solenoid in some places and purge in others). With both solenoids replaced, seems like you'll need to smoke the system. I do recall someone posting problems with an aftermarket gas cap, but that's probably a long shot.

Gas cap is a cheap part and the easiest to replace. Just sayin'.

So the hose that comes off the charcoal canister and up into the spare tire well...Is it suppose to connect to something inside ?

I believe the hose just goes into an empty cavity in the body, and it's done that way to just send the vapors coming out of the canister into a safe area which is not a part of the inside of the vehicle, and where the end of the hose cannot get plugged up.

Makes sense to me...I'll guess I'll try a new gas cap even though the one I have on there is just a couple of years old.
