What should I replace along with the heater core?

Hey guys,

A couple weeks ago I was getting an antifreeze smell inside the car, and one of the mechanics at work gave it a sniff and told me it's my heater core. I'm going to order the parts and try doing it myself, and I'm wondering what else I should replace while I have the entire dash board removed. For example, should I replace the heater hoses and hose clamps? Or are those accessible from under the hood, enabling me to replace them later? The car is a 2004 with 132,000 on it and I want this labor to last many more miles. Any advice would be awesome.

this might be unrelated to the Heater Core issue, but when was the Last Time the Timing Belt was replaced?

I replaced the timing belt and all related assemblies, including the water pump, about three weeks ago. Did it myself.
