yeah, that will be plenty loud: how ever many decibels the muffler is.

I don't know about the 09 exhaust system, but I put a straight pipe on my 06 and it's definitely not too loud. I never got pulled over or hassled. Plus it sounds pretty good too.

Mind you I only took the rear muffler off, the two stock resonators are still on the car.

it is only a 1.6, and it runs smoothly, its not too loud even without the exhaust.

but for loud he will definitely want to eliminate the resonator. he would pick up even more volume by eliminating the cat. but you can't "legally" do that.

i think there are 2? resonators on the 09 also.

      Re: warranty issues with exhaust

i think there's only one resonater and then the muffler. I'm not about to cut the cat off. my buddy has an 08 aveo sedan and he only had the one resonater as well and mine seems to be set-up the same way, exhaust wise anyway.

i think i may take all plans back and keep it simple for now... cut the resonater out, put a straight pipe in replace. then cut the muffler and stick the fart can on... I think it'll be plenty loud... loud enough to have fun and also help me drive the stick (i'm not used to watchin the tach, I like to shift when it sounds like it needs shifted.)

and someone posted on my other topic that he F'd his car up hittin a water puddle with a CAI. that scares me so i probably wont to that. I may just buy an extra stock airbox lid and cut a hole in the top and get just the K&N filter (stock size) for it. I'm sure it'll be gettin plenty air that way and i will be able to switch it back and forth pretty easily if i think it may rain or need to take it to the dealership for service for any reason. ( just a thought )

      Re: warranty issues with exhaust

i have a full exhaust on my aveo, ported EM, bigger flex pipe, highflow cat, muffler. I took off the resonator and thought it was too loud and obnoxious for my tastes, so i put on back on

First trip to the dealer yielded a new O2 sensor. Light came back on in 50 miles. Second trip to dealer resulted in fuel rail cleaning. Light came back on in 50 miles or so. Third trip to dealer, two days there, and I get a call. They claim they cannot properly troubleshoot the problem with the aftermarket alarm, and I must remove it. I ask how an alarm system can throw the codes I was getting. They said we don't know, but we cannot work on it until you remove the alarm. I asked if I remove it and it is not the problem, who pays for the de-install / re-install. They said it was on me, even if it was not the cause. We went back and forth. I even told them of the magnasum-moss act. Called Chevrolet corporate customer service. They backed up the dealer. Reported MM act violation to FCC. End result, I am waiting for that light bulb to burn out. The only good thing about New Jersey is new cars have 4 years until inspection, so I will kill the car in 4 years. I know my alarm is not the problem and I refuse to remove it. Unfortunatley, this is one of my big problems with Chevy, poor customer service, and the reason I will probably never buy another GM product again (if they are even in business), and probably the reason they are in so much trouble now. They cannot definitively tell me the problem, they are "poking and hoping". So keep this in mind with your modifications, if it cannot be easily removed for warranty work, it might cause an issue.

Might be off topic, but, this reminds me of a similar problem I had with my '07 Wave this year, but, I don't have an alarm. The CEL came on so I took the car to the dealer to get it checked out. They called me back and said they couldn't find the problem so they cleared the code and gave my car back to me. On my way home, the light came on again, so, I took my car back to the dealer to have them check it out again. The tech called me and said that the throttle body needed to be replaced...yikes. They did the work, I came and got my car and all was good, until the next day when the light came on again...ugh. I took my car in AGAIN to see what the deal was...the tech called me later in the day and said that they now needed to replace the Electronic Control Module...fine. They did the work again and I picked up my car and took it home. Guess what...yep...the light came on...AGAIN. At this point I'm getting pretty irate...I called the dealership and asked them what the hell their problem was...and procedded to take my car in again. I got another call saying that they were gonna replace the entire wiring harness. The following week the work was done and I haven't had a problem since. Sometime I wonder if they just by-passed the CEL all together so it wouldn't come on again....
