Is the timing belt maintenence covered under warranty?

Like the subject says: is the 30k required inspection of the timing belt covered under any possible warranty? I'm pretty sure the only warranty I have is the 100k (bought used). If not, what is the average price to have it looked at? I gather it would be pretty expensive. I mentioned this in passing to the dealer and he said "we'll take care of ya".

Also, is the 60k mile replacement covered under the 100k drivetrain warranty?

just had my 30,000 mile check at gm dealer.the lock fell out of the driver side door,so they fixed, (free) and did the free 30,000 mile check. .(3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty from gm).replacement of the timing belt is recommended at 60,000 mile interval by gm.i ask what the price for that would be and was told that it would be around $500.00..dollars.100,000 mile warranty is power drivetrain(motor-transmission-etc.)

Thanks. My 3yr/36k is up though (28.5k surrently, but the car rolled out 12/1/07). You said the replacement would run $500? I wonder how much for the inspection since I'm not under warranty.

i skipped the inspection on my wave, but i did get the timing belt replaced at 100,000km. the replacement cost me about $850cdn, parts & labour. i figure an inspection only would cost about half, maybe. there are just too many parts to take off to get to the belt, since they go through the passenger-side wheel-well.

you are lucky it didn't break. The change interval is 80,000kms. Don't wait so long next time.

Are the Aveo engine's interference engines?

that's weird, my owner's manual says, and im pretty sure, that the change interval was 100,000km. i'd better check. im disappointed that GM decided to use an interference engine with a rubber belt. chains are better, always has been.

disappointed by interference engines and belts? I cant think of a car that isn't that in the last 15 years? even longer if your just talking inline 4 engines..

i just means you do "maintenance" instead of "fixing"

i had always thought GM had used chains for all their engines, even at the dealership where i bought the car from (which is closed now), the service advisor told me that the car has an interference engine and therefore has a chain, but it does not.
