Partial loss of the Secondary information center.

      Hi everybody,

My 2005 LT Hatch, has a 2007 motor & trans with 80K since the swap (thx DAOX!). New timing belt.
The SIC seemed to work at random for a while, but is now totally gone. I have the clock and the door ajar light, but nothing else ( CEL, DRL, Airbag indicator, etc...) It would occasionally come back on after I hit a bad pothole or bump (on accident). I'm thinking there is a loose or burnt connector in the wiring harness, but can't find it. I've checked the fuses time and again. they're fine. I'm wide open to suggestions. Maybe a relay? not all of those are labeled on the interior fuse block. Thanks in advance.

This thread shows a common place where you're going to find electrical mishaps:

      Good luck.

If it is strictly limited to only the cluster, (read above post link) I think it is more likely the unit than the harness.
IF one thing in it is working and nothing else, the wiring to the unit is intact (plugged in at least). You might just need a cluster. But i would use the above post and go through that link and check those spots very well on your car first.

The connector / harness referenced in the link above seems fine. No discoloration, smoke damage, melting, etc... I'm an electrician, so I'd recognize those things. Because I had occasionally seen it flicker on when I hit a bump, I have to shy away from replacing the cluster. I just traced the SIC wiring to a relay in the interior fuse block, however impending thunderstorms have me taking cover! As soon as I can get back out there, I'll pull & test that relay. As always, I'll post results & whatever fix works. Still open to ideas, so throw a dart if you'd like!!!!!!

Sorry for the delay. I found that wiggling the connector behind the Secondary Information Center ( SIC ), the lights would flicker. I applied a light coat of di-electric grease to the plug & pins. Problem solved!
