      noise when decelerating aveo 2006

I have a 2006 aveo which I bought used a few months ago. Off late, the car has started making strange noises when the accelerator is let go, and/or the brakes are pressed. The noise is fairly loud and boomy, and comes from the engine bay. The noise is very noticeable when I decelerate from 35 mph.
Can anyone provide any insights on what it could be? The car has75 k miles on it

Might be an exhaust leak. These early Aveo exhaust systems rust out like clockwork, and the cat-to-front pipe connecton is one area of high rust. If it is an exhaust leak, you should be able to also hear it and locate the exact spot by listening to it while parked, with someone reving it up. If you can't locate it from the top with the hood open, get on your back and stick your head underneath (wearing safety glasses).
