      Moans, groans and squeaks

My 2008 Aveo5 is now 8 months old and the suspension is making all kinds of weird squeaky, moaning noises whenever going over a dip in the road, or a bump. It sounds like a 30-year old Buick! I read the post about the hollow sound coming from the front springs, but this id different. Is it normal for Aveos to have squeaky suspensions?

Probably not. I've never noticed any suspension noises like that from my '07 and I'm at 45k.

Its more fun to drive a slow car fast, rather than drive a fast car slow!

      are you a handy person?

get some bushing grease or lube, and apply it to the front control arm mount bushings and sway bar bushings. see if that improves the noise.

if you drive through a lot of puddles or are in a very dry climate it is possible for the bushings to dry out a little. Although this usually occurs over a long period of time, but it doesnt mean there isn't some kind of flash rusting at the contact points.

if i was looking i would just plan on disassembling the whole suspension and cleaning things up and looking for damaged parts.
i know our floating strut tops look almost identical to the vr6 mounts found on mk3 vw's. and when they fail it gives off a lot of noise.
but they should last longer than where you are, unless you are really low..

Nope, it's all stock, no mods. I'll take a look at those bushings and try to squirt some grease in there.

it has to be a grease or lube meant for bushings. not just grease (although a synthetic grease wont hurt the bushings either).

mines always done it over bumps...but its got less noticable after installing my springs and strut tower brace....but it is more than likely the brushings like said above....because I know of people who brought it back to the dealer to fix it and thats all they did was grease it up to get it to go away....but it comes back because the grease eventually dissappears

the only noise i ever had on my 04 was a front end noise from my left hand lower control arm bushing failure. it was like a metallic clunk over bumps.
