GM will love ya for it. The stuff they sell usually has a markup of several hundred percent over aftermarket prices. They have a vested interest in proprietary marketing.

Umm... I'd like you to prove that theory. From my own personal experience, the prices for gm branded chemicals are very much in line with the aftermarket.Quote:

Having a list of recommended fluids does not tie you into buying oem. Even though the part numbers are there. It still says type IV fluid. So now when you go to pepboyz you know what the dealership wants you to get.
Parts and fluids have more mark up in retail prices when they work on your car. Some /a lot of dealers are competitively priced when you buy the fluid in parts. Depends on the parts dept though.
