do i need a tune up?

my engine in an 07 aveo 1.6 seems to miss a beat when idling does it need a tune or is it normal?

also it seems to make a tick tick noise when running under load, but its not consistantly going all the time only now and then and at different rpms

i was thinking that my cold air intake may have knocked the throttle body around a little because its a bit of a tight fit.

so do i require a tune up, new sparkies, or something else?

      any help would be great!

ticking can be a pulley/tensioner, or a valve usually... if it lessens/vanishes after an oil change, it's a valve tick.

rough idle can be 9000000000 different things. Check your plugs and wires first.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far the wall moves after you hit it.

does it sound like the clicking of an old rollercoaster...if so its the accessory belt tensioner. had it happen to mine.

Re: do i need a tune up?

lol i dont kno never been near a roller coaster but now and then (not all the time) sounds like an old car.

just checked the sparkies and they arent too bad, they have black soot on em but the sparks arent bent or nothing.

also i noticed that on each spark on the thread was what seems to be rust but i could be mistaken as it could very well be a compund adhesive or something.

it diffenately seems to be missing a beat when shes at normal temp so maybe the timing may need to be altered as she is idling around the 750 - 1000 rpms but no more (at norm temp) is that too low or is that normal.

btw i didnt mention before that she has done 21000kms and the next service is ment to be 22500kms (bout 13100miles and service at 14000miles)

hope this helps you guys out

Re: do i need a tune up?

thats a little over 13,000 miles for us americans. so it really shouldnt be your accessory belt tensioner (mine gave out at ~55,000 miles). ticking is probably a valve tick like mentioned before. I don't recall the aveo engine being as quite as many other engines when running
